The Medford Comprehensive High School Building Project is one of the most significant and closely watched public school construction initiatives currently underway in Massachusetts, representing a landmark opportunity for the City of Medford to replace a 1970s-era high school building whose aging facilities, educational limitations, and infrastructure challenges have long constrained the full potential of Medford’s students, educators, and career technical education programs. Invited into the Massachusetts School Building Authority’s CORE program in December 2023 after a difficult 2022 attempt during a period of post-pandemic construction cost inflation that limited MSBA acceptance capacity, the project progressed rapidly through the MSBA Eligibility Period and was unanimously approved to enter the Feasibility Phase in February 2025, unlocking an MSBA reimbursement commitment of 52.31% of the project’s eligible expenses, one of the highest reimbursement rates available in the MSBA’s CORE program, and reflecting an agreed enrollment capacity of 1,395 students for grades 9 through 12, including the centralization of Pre-K services, Kids’ Corner, and the Medford Family Network.
Managed by LeftField Project Management as Owner’s Project Manager, selected through a unanimous recommendation of the Medford Comprehensive High School Building Committee’s selection subcommittee and hired in June 2025, and designed by SMMA, selected through the MSBA Designer Selection Panel in October 2025, the Medford project team entered the active Feasibility Study phase in October 2025 with a Preliminary Design Program due to the MSBA in February 2026 and a Preferred Schematic Report deadline of June 2026. The team has been working intensively across multiple fronts simultaneously: completing educational programming in close collaboration with Medford High School faculty and administrators, evaluating 29 design alternatives ranging from partial renovation to full addition/renovation to entirely new construction, preparing a comprehensive Educational Plan unanimously approved by the Medford School Committee in February 2026, conducting community outreach through public meetings, robocalls, citywide mailers, and a dedicated project website, and targeting a submission of a single preferred schematic design option to the MSBA by June 2026. LeftField Project Management, a firm that has now managed over $2.6 billion in MSBA-funded school construction projects since the MSBA’s founding in 2004, brings to Medford the deep MSBA process knowledge, community engagement infrastructure, and project management discipline that a project of this scale and public scrutiny demands from day one.
The 25-member Medford Comprehensive High School Building Committee, formed in April 2024 from 110 community applicants and representing an extraordinary cross-section of Medford residents, educators, city officials, elected representatives, architects, and construction professionals, reflects the depth of community investment and civic seriousness with which Medford is approaching what could be a project totaling up to $600 million before MSBA reimbursements. Every phase of the project, from OPM selection to designer procurement to feasibility study submissions to community outreach, has been conducted with the full transparency, rigorous MSBA process compliance, and genuine stakeholder engagement that LeftField’s model of public school construction project management has become known for across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
As a leading Owner’s Project Manager firm managing one of the most complex, high-profile, and community-engaged high school construction projects currently in the MSBA Feasibility Study pipeline in Massachusetts, LeftField needed a professionally designed, information-rich, and publicly accessible project website that could serve as the authoritative digital hub for the Medford High School project, hosting the Educational Plan, design alternatives, meeting schedules, MSBA submission updates, and community engagement resources for the 25-member building committee, Medford city officials, MSBA stakeholders, and the broader Medford public throughout a multi-year construction journey. Our web design and development team built a clean, clearly organized, and stakeholder-focused construction project website tailored specifically for Owner’s Project Managers, Comprehensive High School Building Committees, and MSBA-funded high school construction projects in Massachusetts, designed to communicate project milestones transparently, support robust community engagement, and provide a trusted public record of this generational civic investment, powered by AI-driven digital growth strategies built for the public construction and municipal sector.
If you lead a construction project management firm, Owner’s Project Manager practice, school building committee, or any construction and public sector organization managing large-scale MSBA-funded high school construction projects in Massachusetts and are looking for a web design and digital growth partner that understands the community transparency, MSBA feasibility study documentation, and multi-year stakeholder communication demands of major public high school construction, this project is a compelling example of how expert web development and AI-powered growth services can serve your project’s community engagement needs, build lasting public trust, and position your construction management firm as the most experienced and credible OPM in MSBA-funded school construction across the Commonwealth.
