Managed through the Massachusetts School Building Authority, known as the MSBA, and overseen by LeftField, LLC serving as Owner’s Project Manager, or OPM, the project encompasses the full design and construction of a brand-new high school campus in Agawam, Massachusetts, with architectural design led by award-winning firm Flansburgh Architects and construction management by Fontaine Bros and WT Rich. Following a successful community YES vote in June 2024 and years of rigorous MSBA process navigation from the initial Statement of Interest in 2020 through Feasibility Study, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents phases, the project entered active construction in June 2025 and is now progressing through three distinct construction phases scheduled for completion in December 2028.

The scope and ambition of the Agawam High School Building Project reflects the full complexity of large-scale public school construction in Massachusetts. Phase 1, running from April 2025 through December 2026, encompasses early enabling work, construction of the community wing building, and associated parking. Phase 2, spanning January 2026 through June 2028, delivers the academic wing and its associated parking infrastructure. Phase 3, from June 2028 through December 2028, completes the project with the demolition of the existing building, completion of athletic fields, and final project close-out. The new campus incorporates geothermal well drilling for sustainable energy, a pre-K building connected to the main high school via an architectural connector, and a community wing designed to serve Agawam residents well beyond the school day, making this a true civic investment in the long-term health, sustainability, and vitality of the community.
